Sexually Transmitted Infection(STI)

A sexually transmitted infection (STI) is a type of infection that is spread through some sort of sexual activity.

There are a variety of STIs that range from HIV, HPV, syphilis, gonorrhea and chlamydia. Some STIs have severe and obvious symptoms, but some go undetected, causing people to be unaware that they are at risk. Bacterial STIs can often be cured, but viral STIs can only be treated, not cured.

KCHD conducts free STI testing by appointment Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Call 304-348-8080 for a your appointment.

HIV TESTING

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) testing determines whether or not you’re infected with HIV, a virus that weakens your immune system and can lead to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Consider HIV testing if you’ve been exposed to blood or had unprotected sex. Maybe you just want to make sure. That's OK, too.
